Methanex wants to build plant in Vietnam
The world’s leading methanol supplier, Canada’s Methanex Corp., has advanced its interest with the Vietnamese Ministry of Planning and Investment to build a methanol manufacturing plant in southern Ba Ria-Vung Tau province at a total cost of US$1 billion. The plant is capable of producing between 1.3 million and 1.6 million tons of methanol a year which will supply both the domestic and the export market. The facility will need up to two trillion cubic feet of natural gas for 20 to 25 years, according to Methanex’s calculations. (March 9, 2009)
