Mazda to roll out compact SUV with fuel-efficient engine
Mazda Motor Corp. will roll out a compact sport utility vehicle (SUV) with a new fuel-efficient gasoline engine, possibly in the latter half of next year, according to industry sources. The engine will likely have a displacement of 2000cc or less. The company is working on improving its fuel efficiency by about 15%, as well as trimming the vehicle’s body weight. It will be Mazda’s first brand-new vehicle type since the automaker released the Biante mini-van in July 2008. The new car will be equipped with the SKY-G engine, which the company is considering introducing sometime in 2011. (September 10, 2010)
