Mazda plans to convert Miyoshi plant
The Nikkei reported that Japanese automaker Mazda has plans to transform its Miyoshi plant in Hiroshima Prefecture into a production facility for fuel-efficient engines. The company said it will spend nearly JPY30 billion (US$367.3 million) for the expansion of its engine assembly lines at the plant. It plans to double the capacity of the plant to more than 800,000 units a year by 2015. The factory produces diesel engine parts for commercial vehicles and has around 100 workers. (April 9, 2012)
