Mayor says oil depots must comply with SC order

Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim stressed that the oil depot in Pandacan must go in compliance with a Supreme Court (SC) decision ordering the closure of the facility for security reasons. Lim said Chevron Philippines Inc., Petron Corp., and Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corp. in Pandacan should now start looking for a place to transfer their depot, as ordered by the High Court. He agreed with the High Tribunal’s ruling that the “protective measure” should no longer be delayed because of the threat that it poses to the lives of thousands of residents living near the 30-hectare facility as it could be a target of terrorist attack.
