Matsushita Electric to begin biodiesel program
Matsushita Electric Works Ltd. subsidiary Matsushita Electric Works Logistics Co. Ltd. will start using biodiesel fuel for its specialist trucks from September 20. Biodiesel fuel processed using cooking oil waste from two staff food courts will total 7,300 liters annually, equivalent to 0.03% of global diesel oil usage by all group companies. Although there have been examples of businesses mixing normal diesel with biodiesel fuel, the utilization of 100% biodiesel is a first for a home device manufacturer and the first in Osaka. The initiative will begin on a trial basis, with the program targeted to expand nationally. (September 10, 2007)
