Maruti to revamp all models within two years

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. said it will revamp all of its existing models in the next two years. According to Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer S. Nakanishi, Maruti has exhausted its quota of new cars with eight new launches in India in the past three years. It will thus try to refresh its portfolio. The company’s Alto model will be completely revamped to compete with Tata Motors Ltd.’s Nano, and will soon come in two new variants. Other models, company officers said, such as the Wagon R and Versa are also being revamped, while the Swift model will get a fresh design and a new gasoline engine. (May 25, 2009)
