Maoming to embark on formal design stage for hydrocracking plant

Maoming Petrochemical Company’s feasibility study to build a 1.8 million ton per year wax oil hydrocracking and refining plant was approved by China Petroleum & Chemical Corp. (Sinopec). The beginning of the formal design stage will commence shortly. Total investment in the project is in excess of 600 million yuan (US$80.8 million). Maoming Petrochemical became the first 1 million ton-capacity ethylene production base in China in September 2006. The completion and operation of the project provided a powerful impetus to the economic development of China’s Pan-Pearl River Delta. (October 23, 2007)
