Maoming Petrochemical to launch expansion project

Sinopec Maoming Petrochemical Co., Ltd. confirmed that it would start building a 25.5-million-ton oil refining upgrade and expansion project with an initial investment of 1 billion yuan (US$146.1 million) in September 2009. It is preparing for construction of a 12-million-ton atmospheric and vacuum distillation facility, a 1.8-million-ton gas oil hydro-treating unit and an affiliated 100,000-ton sulfur recovery device to treat tail gas of the project for environmental protection. After the expansion, Maoming Petrochemical will have a primary crude oil processing capacity of 25.5 million tons per year. (December 26, 2008)
