Malaysia to add 50 NGV stations
Malaysia’s Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry will add more than 50 petrol stations with natural gas for vehicle (NGV) facilities in 2006-2008. Parliamentary Secretary Hoo Seong Chan said there are currently 46 stations throughout the country which supplies NGV. Another 58 are in various stages of construction. “The government has also asked Petronas to expedite the setting up of 200 NGV stations throughout the country by 2008,” Hoo added. An estimated 19,000 vehicles nationwide currently use NGV, of which 99% are taxis. “As an incentive, a RM50,000 (US$14,080) grant has been introduced for bus operators who buy new mono-gas NGV buses until 2008,” said Hoo.
