Malaysia approves 90 biofuels licenses
The Malaysian government has approved 90 licenses for the establishment of biofuel plants, of which six with a total capacity of 352,000 tons are already operational. Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Datuk Peter Chin said that from last August to February, 52,654 tons of biodiesel have been exported to the United States, the European Union and Japan, generating RM132 million (US$38.29 million) in revenue. “Some of the plants are in various stages of construction and between seven and 10 of them are expected to be up and running by year-end,” he said.
