Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers names Bainwol as CEO

Mitch Bainwol, top lobbyist for the music industry, was chosen by major auto makers as their chief representative in Washington. Bainwol became president and chief executive officer of the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers effective September 1. A Washington insider with ties to the Republican Party, he served as chief of staff for former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist. He was also chief of staff for the Republican National Committee. Dave McCurdy, the previous CEO for the Auto Alliance resigned to take a position as CEO of the American Gas Association. “From fuel efficiency to safety, the industry’s innovation is nothing short of remarkable,” Bainwol said in a statement released by the Alliance. “Americans love cars and just as importantly, understand that the economic destiny of our country is linked to the success of this sector,” Bainwol added.
