Mahindra & Mahindra to drive into U.S. by December
After a delay of nearly a year, India’s Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) is now all set to begin its U.S. expedition with its new compact diesel pick-up truck by the end of December. Having been put off at least twice since the original schedule of mid-2009, the yet-to-be-named truck will be the first vehicle with a made-in-India tag to ply on U.S. roads. M&M is now keen on putting its U.S. plans back on the fast track, intending to follow up the truck’s launch with the introduction of a new sport-utility version of the present Scorpio model in December 2011 and later, with a new SUV model. The deep U.S. recession caused M&M to delay its market entry. Additional delay was caused by changes in the clutch design to conform to U.S. regulations. (May 21, 2010)
