Mahindra: India, China may define future changes in automotive technology
India, along with China, is set to define the changes in automotive technologies in the next 50 years, according to Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. Vice-Chairman and Managing Director Anand Mahindra. Predicting the changes in the automobile sector at the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers’ annual summit, Mahindra said that the volume of cars sold in the two nations would determine the kind of products being developed in the future. “I foresee a polarization of the market towards smaller cars for cost efficiency and larger cars for bulk transportation. What does this mean for mid-level sedans? It could well be that the segment will wither away,” said Mahindra. (August 27, 2010)
