Madhya Pradesh proposes uniform taxes on petroleum products

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Madhya Pradesh, India, demanded that there should be a uniform tax structure for petroleum products throughout the country. Expressing its willingness to reduce taxes on petroleum products in the wake of the fuel price hike, State Minister Babulal Gaur, however, said there should be uniformity in the taxation structure for such items. Gaur said his government will raise the demand for uniform taxes on petroleum products in a meeting of the empowered committee of state finance ministers on taxes to be held on June 16.
