Lukoil to boost production of automotive gasoline

Lukoil has modified its list of oil refinery modernization projects with the aim of boosting automotive gasoline output. “Adjustments have been made to the oil refinery modernization plans in order to more fully meet the needs of the Russian automobile gasoline market with the goal of preventing a possible shortage and avoiding a shortfall of other types of fuel,” the company said in a statement.
Among other things, the company plans to construct a second catalytic cracking complex at Lukoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez; an increase of 1.3-million-ton-per-year in Euro 5 standard gasoline production; shorter construction times; and a boost in the design capacity of the hydrocracking unit from 2.2 million tons per annum (MTPA) to 4.8 MTPA. Commissioning was moved to 2018, instead of 2020. The new project for Lukoil-Permnefteorgsintez also involves the construction of an oil residue refining complex, with an increase in conversion rate up to 98%. (September 15, 2012)
