Lucknow to set up CNG refilling stations
After having faced much of the stone-walling by previous governments on promoting the use of compressed natural gas (CNG), Green Gas Limited (GGL) a subsidiary of Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) and Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), which is managing the project for Lucknow, the government has given a go-ahead to set up stations proposed under the first phase of the plan. CNG will be promoted on an experimental basis in Lucknow, Kanpur, Bareilly and Agra. If proved effective, it will be expanded to other parts of the state. “Agra is doing fairly well. Lucknow still has a long way to go. We have all our machinery ready, but the attitude of the previous government was a hindrance”, said the official. (July 22, 2007)
