Lube factory in Ajman goes up in flames

A factory and a lubricant depot in Ajman, the smallest of the seven emirates comprising the United Arab Emirates (UAE), were destroyed in a blaze that firefighters battled for six hours to contain on September 26. No-one was injured in the fire, which started at Henkel International Lubricant Industry at about 1 pm. The company is not connected to Henkel AG & Co. KGaA, with corporate headquarters in Dusseldorf, Germany. Mohammed al Jumeirah, a senior official with the Ajman Civil Defence, said the blaze quickly spread to the adjoining Atlass Metal Factory. Firemen from the other emirates Sharjah, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Umm al Qaiwain and about 20 private companies were called in to assist. “We still don’t know the exact cause, but Ajman Police is trying to investigate with the three people who were on the site,” Al Jumeirah said.
