Linc Energy to test GTL in long distance fuel trial

Peter Bond, chief executive officer of Linc Energy in Australia, is set to drive a diesel car over 5,500 kilometers from Queensland to Perth using a new ultra clean fuel that the company developed using its Underground Coal Gasification (UCG) and Gas to Liquids (GTL) technology. According to the company, the synthetic fuel produced using this new technology has superior emissions properties. The final product is said to contain extremely low sulfur or complex aromatic hydrocarbons that are the main contributors to air pollution. Linc Energy plans to combine its UCG and GTL technologies commercially in its effort to become the world’s leader in providing cleaner synthetic diesel and jet fuels from stranded coal resources. UCG produced gas can also be used as feedstock for the production of power or for use in chemical fertilizers. (February 28, 2011)
