Korea to introduce renewable fuel standard

Introduction of a renewable fuel standard (RFS) system is currently under consideration to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions, South Korea’s Ministry of Knowledge Economy said. After completing its research, the government will review its plausibility and reorganize related regulations, the ministry said. If everything works out, implementation of the RFS system could be possible as early as 2013. Under the new system, the minimum proportion of biodiesel fuel contained in gasoline would grow to double digits, the ministry said. (November 16, 2009)
