Korea to cooperate with Vietnam on biofuel projects

Vietnam and South Korea will cooperate in building biofuel plant farms in the former country in the near future, said participants at a recent seminar on biofuel plant research, the Khoa Hoc & Phat Trien newspaper reported. During the gathering, Vietnamese and South Korean experts shared experiences and techniques in growing biofuel plants. The Vietnam Agricultural Science Institute said Vietnam boasts great potential in growing biofuel plants, particularly sugar canes, cassavas and sesame. Vietnam plans to produce 1.8 million tons of ethanol and biodiesel by 2025 to meet 5% of national petroleum demand. (August 27, 2009)
