Kerala slashes sales tax on petrol, diesel fuel

Kerala’s Left Democratic Front (LDF) government slashed sales tax on petrol on June 6 bringing relief to the consumers of petrol by Rs1.22 (US$0.03) per liter and of diesel fuel by 66 paise (US$0.02). The tax on petrol had been slashed from 29.01% to 26.03%, while that of diesel fuel from 24.69% to 22.49%. With this concession, the state government is foregoing Rs322 crore (US$75 million) a year.
