Kawasaki-Mitsubishi Fuso wins award
One of Asia’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturers, Kawasaki – Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC), announced that its DUONIC dual-clutch transmission system was awarded the “Technological Development Award” by the Japan Society of Automotive Engineers (JSAE) at the 62nd Automotive Technology Awards. “We are honored to have received this prestigious award. While this award represents a key milestone under ‘FUSO 2015’, our company’s 5-pillar growth strategy for the future, we are committed to further enhancing our leadership position in this field of green innovation,” said Albert Kirchmann, MFTBC President and CEO. Gustav Tuschen, MFTBC vice president of product engineering, said that the DUONIC dual-clutch transmission system is the first of its kind in the world. It is an automated dual-clutch type manual transmission which is incorporated on a commercial truck. Because it does not need regular clutch replacement, owners of vehicles with this type of clutch system are spared from maintenance costs incurred when clutch disks need to be replaced. This advanced transmission system is also fuel efficient and its key feature is smooth, seamless shifting without shock and torque interruption. Combined with the easy 2-pedal driving, it provides for an easy drive for truck drivers. (April 20, 2012)
