Jilin starts refinery expansion project

PetroChina’s Jilin Petrochemical, located in northeast China, laid the foundation of a refinery expansion project on July 17. The project includes six sub-projects: atmospheric and vacuum distillation unit, catalytic cracking unit, gas fractionation, diesel oil hydrogenation, gasoline hydrogenation, and sulfur recovery. Except for the sulfur recovery unit that will be built by year-end, the other five projects will come into production in October 2010. After completion, Jilin Petrochemicals’ refining capacity will reach 10 million tons, from 7 million tons, per year, while the quality of gasoline and diesel fuel to be produced at the refinery will be improved as well.
