Jilin Ethanol Industrial awards US$11.6 million contract to China New Energy

Guangzhou Zhongke Tianyuan Ltd., a unit of bioethanol and biobutanol project developer China New Energy Ltd., was awarded a CNY74 million (US$11.6 million) contract by Jilin Ethanol Industrial Co. (JEIC) to increase production and boost the capacity of its plants. Guangzhou Zhongke Tianyuan Ltd. expects to complete most of the upgrading by December 2012. JEIC is an amalgamation of several inefficient state-owned ethanol producers in Jilin Province, China, with a combined production capacity of 600,000 tons per year. JEIC aims to reach 1,000,000 tons of capacity by 2013, making it the largest ethanol producer in Asia. (July 19, 2012)
