JAC builds world-class aromatics complex in Singapore

The Jurong Aromatics Corporation (JAC) has begun construction of a US$2.4 billion world-scale aromatics complex on Jurong Island, Singapore. Operations are expected to commence in 2014. The facility will consist of a fully integrated condensate splitter and an aromatics plant. The plant will produce about 1.5 million tons per annum (tpa) of aromatics and 2.5 million tpa of petroleum products. Its 800,000 tpa paraxylene production is one of the largest in the world. JAC is a joint venture between eight shareholders. South Koreaโ€™s SK Group and Chinese polyester manufacturer Jiangsu Sanfangxiang are JACโ€™s largest shareholders. SK Group holds a 30% stake while Jiangsu owns 25% of the JV. (August 26, 2011)
