Isuzu plans to invest US$187 million in Indian plant
Japan’s commercial vehicle manufacturer Isuzu Motors Ltd. plans to infuse about Rs10 billion (US$188.5 million) in the construction of a manufacturing facility either in Tamil Nadu or Andhra Pradesh in India. The Business Standard reported that the facility will have an annual capacity of 150,000 units.
The facility will serve both local and global markets and strengthen Isuzu’s overall business structure. Since Tamil Nadu is the site of several plants including those belonging to Daimler AG, Hyundai Motor Co. and Nissan Motor Co. Ltd., the state has a robust supplier base. Isuzu has already set up an Indian firm, Isuzu Motors India, which is trying to procure a parcel of land for the project. (August 25, 2012)
