Isuzu launches low-emission trucks in Japan

Isuzu has released its new Giga heavy-duty and Forward mid-size truck series for sale in Japan, reports Kyodo News. Isuzu said in a statement that all the new truck models comply with the upcoming emission standards, which require an almost 65% reduction in nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions and a 63% reduction in particulate matter (PM) emissions compared with the previous standards for trucks weighing 3.5 tons or more. The Giga heavy-duty trucks are available at a starting price of ยฅ21.0 million (US$233,882), while the Forward mid-size trucks are available at a starting price of ยฅ8.9 million (US$99,121). This move is in line with most Japanese truckmakers’ efforts to launch low-emission trucks in response to the new JP09 emission standards, which are said to be the most stringent in the world.
