IOC, Reva abandon fuel cell project
A joint fuel cell car development project between Reva Electric Car Company and Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) has floundered, it has been reported. According to the Hindu Business Line, the IOC has not renewed its interest in the project following the expiration of a two-year statement of intent in June. Under the agreement, two hydrogen fuel cell vehicles were to have been developed, while the IOC was to work on the creation of a hydrogen infrastructure to support the cars. The technology was expected to be ready by 2010. However, despite Reva’s apparent commitment to the project, IOC decided that the initiative was no longer worth sustaining. (August 2, 2007)
