Infineum to start construction of new salicylate plant in first quarter

Infineum, a world-class petroleum additive enterprise, will commence construction of a new salicylate manufacturing facility at its Jurong Island site in Singapore in the first quarter of 2012. Calcium salicylate is a unique detergent component, a critical part of Infineum’s highly-differentiated top-tier passenger car and heavy-duty engine oil formulations, as well as of its marine oil additive product slate. The plant is the single largest investment that Infineum has made in its history. Start-up of the new facility is planned at the end of 2013. Chiyoda Singapore (Pte.) Limited. has been appointed to carry out the detailed engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) phase of the project. The new plant is an important addition to Infineum’s global supply capability for these chemical additives, said Trevor Russell, Infineum Group vice president of sales & marketing and chief strategy officer. “Infineum is convinced that this project is key to reinforce further Infineum’s commitment to the reliable supply of its technology-leading additives to support the growth of its key customers,” he said.
