Infinergy to build waste-to-biofuel plant in China
Hangzhou Infinergy Limited, the Chinese subsidiary of U.K. wind developer Infinergy, announced that it has signed a definitive agreement with Jilin City in China. Under the terms of the agreement, Infinity will develop a waste-processing facility in Jilin City that would convert Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) and agricultural waste into diesel fuel through a process known as fast catalytic depolymerisation. According to Jeff Mak, Infinergy’s president and chief executive, the company would initially install a 20-ton pilot machine, followed by the installation of another 100-ton fast catalytic depolymerisation machine, which will bring the plant’s full capacity to 120 tons of waste per day. Mak said that three other long-term contracts involving Chinese cities are at advanced stages of negotiations, and the company expects to generate more than US$75 million in annual revenues.
