Indonesian parliament agrees to raise subsidized fuel quota by 1.23 million kiloliters

Indonesia’s parliament, the House of Representatives (DPR), has approved the energy ministry’s proposal to increase the subsidized fuel quota by 1.23 million kiloliters for 2012. The DPR commission tasked the government to conduct an online monitoring and control system (SPM) over Pertamina oil filling stations across the nation. The state energy firm has responded and indicated that it will use the SPM in Jakarta and neighboring regions.
With the increased subsidy, Indonesia’s total fuel consumption in 2012 was expected to reach 45.27 million kiloliters, consisting of around 63% premium gasoline, 3% kerosene and 34% diesel oil. (December 4, 2012)
