Indonesia to raise fuel subsidy spending in 2011

The Indonesian government plans to set aside 92.8 trillion rupiahs (US$10.3 billion) for fuel subsidies next year, up 4.4% on 2010’s planned 88.9 trillion rupiahs (US$9.9 billion), a senior official said. The subsidy is based on the assumption that subsidized fuel consumption will increase to 36.8 million kiloliters and the Indonesian crude price will stay at US$80 per barrel, said Finance Minister Agus Martowardojo. Precise details of the 2011 fuel subsidy were unavailable. (August 17, 2010)
