Indonesia to provide incentives for eco car manufacturers

Indonesia’s Minister of Industry M.S Hidayat promised to work with the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs and the Minister of Finance to accelerate the issuance of fiscal incentives for eco cars and low cost cars in the country. However, Hidayat could not tell for sure the kind of incentives that the government would provide to support the program. At least three automakers, namely Daihatsu, Suzuki and Hyundai, have expressed their interests in developing low cost and green cars in Indonesia. Hidayat explained that “the green concept is achieved through a system that enables one liter of fuel to travel 22 kilometers.” (November 26, 2010)
