Indonesia to invest heavily in biofuels

The Indonesian government said it will spend 200 trillion rupiah (US$22 billion) over the next five years to promote the use of alternative fuels. knowledge_base amount is roughly equivalent to the governments budget for fuel subsidies over five years. According to Energy Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro, about US$6 billion will be used to secure 6 million hectares of land, while the balance will be used to fund the construction of ethanol and biodiesel factories, roads and other support services.
