Indonesia may impose limits on access to subsidized fuel
Indonesia may enforce limits on the use of subsidized fuel by motorists in the third quarter as take up is set to exceed 36.5 million kiloliters (kl) by 10% to 40.1 million kl this year. “We do not want to spend so much money to provide subsidy for fuel, therefore we have to make sure the fuel subsidy will not exceed the allocation,” Oil and Gas Director General at the Energy and Mines Ministry Evita Legowo said. “We want to maintain the fuel quota at 36.5 million kl.” The subsidy is meant to assist low-income families reduce the costs of essential petroleum products such as gasoline, gasoil and kerosene.
