Indonesia expects subsidized fuel use to exceed quota
Indonesia expects consumption of subsidized fuel in 2009 to exceed the quota set earlier this year by 3-5%, BPH Migas Chairman of Downstream Regulator Tubagus Haryono said. Indonesia had set its subsidized fuel quota at 38.854 million kiloliters (kl) for 2009 comprising 19.444 million kl of gasoline, 11.6 million kl of diesel fuel and 5.8 million kl of kerosene. “The [presidential] election held earlier this year led to an increase in the consumption of fuels, mainly gasoline,โ Haryono said. Over the January to October period, Indonesia consumed 17.16 million kl of gasoline (88.27% of the quota), 3.96 million kl of kerosene (68.35% of the quota) and 30.85 million kl of diesel fuel (83.71% of the quota).
