Indofood to invest in biodiesel

Indonesia’s PT Indofood Sukses Makmur will spend US$20 million to get into the biodiesel fuel business. The director of Indofood, Mulyawan Tjandra, said that the company will initially develop 20,000 hectares of palm plantations in various locations such as Riau, West Kalimantan and East Kalimantan. By 2015, the cultivated area will further be expanded to 250,000 hectares to increase the company’s capacity to produce 1 million tons of crude palm oil (CPO) per year. (October 17, 2006)
