Indian firm to invest in Philippine biofuels

Praj Industries Ltd. of India has committed to initially invest Php1.12 billion (US$25.6 million) for the propagation of sweet sorghum and other crops suitable as feedstock for biofuel processing in the Philippines. Agriculture Undersecretary Bernadette Romulo Puyat and Praj Industries Managing Director Shashank Inamdar signed a memorandum of agreement in October to promote the Philippines’ fast growing biofuel sector by generating awareness in the use of agricultural feedstocks for ethanol and biodiesel production.
