Indian consumption up by 30% in October

India’s petroleum product consumption increased by 30% to 1.838 million tons in October compared to the same month a year ago. Positive growth was marked in all product segments, with furnace oil (FO) rising 26%, high speed diesel (HSD) by 28%, motor spirit (MS) by 51% and light diesel oil (LDO) by 16%. Consumption growth was attributed to an average decline of 15% in retail prices, as well as the post-Ramadan season resulting in increased overall economic activity in the country. (November 11, 2009)
