India targets biodiesel usage

The Indian government has identified 39.2 million hectares of land where jatropha can be grown, hoping it will replace 20% of India’s diesel fuel consumption in five years. The Indian government says it has successfully run dozens of trucks and buses on diesel fuel blended with biodiesel from jatropha, with the intent of using a 5% blend by 2007. knowledge_base would require planting 2.4 million hectares of jatropha.
