IMCD sets up office in Bangkok
IMCD Group, a leading European specialty chemicals and food-ingredients distributor, is opening an office in Bangkok.
IMCD has been rapidly expanding in the Asia-Pacific region over the past couple of years and has significantly strengthened its presence in the region. IMCD is active in eight countries in the region–Australia, New Zealand, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and now Thailand. The company generates annual profits of €270 million or nearly Bt10.4 billion (US$354 million).
The Bangkok office employs four people, covering the personal-care and food industries. Having worked for established companies in Thailand, the local personnel bring experience and industry knowledge to the group.
The opening of the Thailand office is the latest in a succession of steps that IMCD has taken over recent years to build a presence in the Asia-Pacific region.
“Having gained the reputation of being a highly transparent partner in Europe, we are now aiming to become a preferred distributor for the leading suppliers of speciality products in Asia-Pacific. IMCD wants to apply the capabilities and know-how acquired in Europe to the same sectors in the Asian markets,” Albert Stevens, vice president for Asia, said.
Representing major manufacturers, IMCD is a leading distributor with a strong position in Europe and Australia for detergents, coatings, food and nutrition, lubricants, personal-care, pharmaceuticals, plastics and the synthesis markets.
IMCD partners with leading logistics service providers in all territories to offer tailored solutions for businesses. IMCD also runs 14 laboratories. Two labs are in Asia – a coatings lab in India and a personal-care lab in Malaysia.
The group has grown five-fold in the past 15 years and says it is committed to furthering this success for the future.
IMCD has 1,250 technical and commercial experts who work in close partnership to tailor solutions for customers and producers across 39 countries.
