Hyundai to expand Russian capacity

Hyundai Motor Group said it will expand the production capacity of its Russian plant from 150,000 to 200,000 units. This expansion is being spurred on by increasing sales of the Solaris model, which is currently the company’s bestselling model in Russia. In June, Hyundai sold 10,833 Solaris units in Russia, placing the company at the top of monthly sales for imported cars three months running, according to the Association of European Businesses (AEB). First half of the year sales for Hyundai Motor Group were up 102%. The plant will begin three shift operations in August to boost output. (July 8, 2011)
