Hyundai to expand R&D center in India

Hyundai Motor India Ltd., India’s second-largest car manufacturer, is set to expand its R&D center in the city of Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh state, stepping up computer-aided design and engineering work for the company’s global operations. Hyundai India expects to commission the improved center in May 2009 and increase its staff of engineers from 200 to 800 by March 2010. According to H.S. Lheem, managing director of Hyundai India, the R&D center expansion is expected to aid the company in competing with rivals in the international market. (January 19/ February 13, 2009)
