Hydrogen project gets UNIDO funding

A hydrogen transportation demonstration project, financially and technically supported by the International Centre for Hydrogen Energy Technologies (ICHET) of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), will be conducted in New Delhi, India. The project, which will be conducted over two years beginning in July 2010, will include the development of a fleet of 15 three-wheeled vehicles. The vehicles will transport visitors at the Pragati Maidan, an area in New Delhi where numerous events are held, in partnership with the India Trade Promotion Organization. The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Delhi, a pioneer in Indian hydrogen research, will manage the project, while Mahindra & Mahindra will develop the vehicles. Air Products and Chemicals Inc. (APCI) and INOX Air Products Ltd., a joint venture between the former owners of the Industrial Oxygen Co. and APCI, will be providing the hydrogen fueling equipment. (March 12, 2009)
