Hybrids account for 17% of Toyota's output in Japan
Production of hybrid passenger cars accounted for 17% of Toyota Motor’s passenger car output in Japan for the period from January to September 2009, the company said. The company produced 322,000 hybrid passenger cars in the nine month period, out of its total domestic passenger car production of 1,845,907 vehicles, it said. The company is targeting annual sales of 1 million hybrid cars to be reached before 2020. Production of 1 million per year hybrid cars in Japan would account for roughly 25% of the company’s total domestic production capacity. (October 28, 2009)
