HPCL plans to double oil refining capacity
Hindustan Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (HPCL) plans to build a new refinery that would more than double its current refining capacity and boost fuel supplies to India. K Murali, HPCL’s refineries director, said that the new plant could process up to 20 million tons per year of oil and would cost around 250 billion rupees (US$5.4 billion) to construct. A feasibility study for the refinery is expected to be completed in one year and construction might be completed in five years. (February 12, 2010)
