HPCL keen to expand capacity at Visakh refinery

Hindustan Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (HPCL) is keen on expanding the capacity of its Visakh refinery in Andhra Pradesh to 15 million tons at the earliest, as efforts to set up a greenfield refinery-cum-petrochemical complex on the city suburbs have evoked a lukewarm response. HPCL Director (refineries) K. Murali told The Hindu that the company is waiting for statutory clearances, as well as additional land required for the expansion project. Currently the Visakh Refinery is running at more than its rated capacity, he said. (October 8, 2010)
