Hong Kong lorry drivers stage fuel protest

Hundreds of lorry drivers demonstrated against soaring fuel prices in Hong Kong on June 10, marching to government headquarters and driving slowly across the territory to disrupt traffic. About 300 drivers protested outside a government building and five drivers abandoned their lorries in the afternoon, blocking a road in the financial district during rush hour. The protest was aimed at pressing the government to slash fuel taxes amid rising petrol and diesel costs. (June 10, 2008)
