Honeywell and CNPC to jointly develop biofuels

U.S.-based Honeywell subsidiary UOP LLC and China’s largest oil firm CNPC have signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly develop biofuels in China. The two sides will jointly develop transport fuels, including clean diesel fuel and renewable jet fuel by utilizing corn stalks and feedstuff. CNPC, China’s largest oil firm, is not a newcomer to the biofuel field. It operates a 600,000 ton per year ethanol fuel project in Jilin and has also signed a frame work agreement with Yunnan, Sichuan and Shandong provinces to develop biofuels. (November 6, 2009)
