Honda to unveil new hybrid system in 2013

Honda has developed a new hybrid system for small cars that it will launch in Honda Fit in Japan in 2013. The new hybrid, with a gasoline (petrol)-electric motor, combines a 1,500-cc engine with a transmission that has a built-in motor and a lithium-ion battery with a large capacity. Honda claims that the new hybrid is 30% more fuel efficient than its predecessors.
Honda is positioning the new hybrid system to compete with Toyota’s small, low-priced Aqua which was the best selling model in Japan in October. (November 13, 2012)
